Secondhand electrical items

I have an electric lawn mower and a household vacuum cleaner that I would like to advertise for sale. They seem to me to be in good condition and it would be a pity to dump them. Where would I stand in law if someone had an electric shock or was injured using them? Is it sufficient to advertise that no guarantee of safety can be given and the purchaser must accept responsibility?

As a private seller your only obligation is to ensure any goods are 'as described'.

There can be no come back on you if the goods cause injury or accident.

Thank you Ethel. I heard discussion recently about having to employ a properly qualified electrician for jobs that some people felt they could do for themselves. It raised doubts in my mind about whose responsibility it is to ensure that used electrical items are safe.
