Outstanding Debt can baliffs go to my parents house?

I have some outstanding debts....that I currently can pay off if worse comes to worse and baliff arrive at my door....as I am living with my parents can they seize my parents goods, or can they only seize mine? idont quite understand how it works?? Just becasue i live with my parents I am over 18 does not make my parents liable does it just becasue we are under the same roof??

i don't fully understand what you are saying, if you are able to pay the debt then why would bailiffs appear at the door at all.
with regards the goods in the house then no they can only seize what belongs to you and not your parents, but there has to be a poinding in the first place

But you/your parents must make to clear to any bailiff which goods are yours and which not. If the bailiffs are not told that , and they act in good faith, they may lawfully take anything which is in your place of residence.

Your parents are not liable for any of your debts unless they guaranteed the debt in question.( Normally that means they signed that if you didn't pay then they would and the debt would be treated as theirs: such a guarantee is often taken when a young person is buying expensive items on credit)

Just pay the debt and spare your parents any embarrassment when the bailifs turn up.

Make sure you have everything you need to proove stuff is yours handy!
We had a thing with this a while back, my fella owed some money, the bailiffs turned up and wanted to take my new car!
Ok so she is a 10 yr old ford KA, but I had used my savings my mum had set aside for me from when I was born, my fella couldnt find the log book proving she was mine!
Luckily while he was looking the bloke wrote down enough stuff so didnt need the car.

1. Bailiffs can't come unless the creditor has first got a County Court judgement and you have defaulted on the terms of it.

2. The first time bailiffs come, they cannot enter the house by force - they can only get in through an open or unlocked window or door & cannot force their way past someone who answers the door. But they can take goods in the open or in an unlocked garage/shed, including any car.

3. As someone else has said, if you can pay the debts then pay them & avoid all this hassle.
