I'm a leaseholder and the freeholder wants to spend a large amount of money painting the windows of the property. However, i'm not too fussed about having them done and this could cost around 1k. Do I have rights to contest?
what does your lease say about maintaining the property. If the freeholder specifies it must be done periodically then maybe you could get your own quote thats cheaper.
only you can know this by reading your whole lease - it will probably mention the areas of the house that you are responsible for maintaining and which areas are everyones concern - if the windows fall into communal area of responsibility then it should also detail how this should be paid for. For example under my lease we all put in a certain amount of money to a maintenance account to do things like paint the outside of the house etc
