hi there i have a mobile phone contract that i took out over 18 months ago. on in october 2007 this contract was over but i have a problem now you see i told the mobile company on numerious occations that i dont want to renew my contract when it expires and i said that when it is finish please end my contract and tke this as notice. i have told them loads of times before the 18 month period. today i reacive a bill for 138 pounds. i phoned them up and they said its for line rental from october 07 to jan 08, bear in mind that the phone sim is gone no phone line or use and contract ended in october 07. i wish to contest this bill and they said that they have no record of my conversations with cutomer service concerning giveing my notice and that i am liable for the bill as they continue the contract regardless of when it expires. i have a witness who heard my conversations with them and they still want me to pay what can i do as i am on sick pay at the mo and on very little money regards and thanks gary

You know when you ring up your provider (eg O2) they say in the answermachine messge that your call will be recorded...ya dee ya... well, when i was disputing an issue, i told whoever it was to go back and dig out all the old conversations that had apparantly been recorded and then come back to me. Perfectly legal and needless to say i never heard from them again!
Send a recorded delivery letter stating that you wish the contract to end as of ??? date
I have no idea whether you will need to pay from Oct but really you should always cancel contracts by letter, preferably recorded as then they cannot say they didn't receive it.
Special Delivery @ 4.30 is even better if you consider the amount of monies you owe now

I had the same problem with 3 about 12 months go, they were demanding about 98 pounds even though i had informed the that i wished to terminate my contract. Every time they sent me a letter I returned it with a covering letter saying "this contract was terminated on .........", I then got a letter from Moorcroft Debt Recovery Service, who were demanding the money, they got a letter back outlining the situation, and that I would be more than willing to see them in court, and that if they continued to persue this claim that i would instigate legal proceedings for harrasement, and would send them a bill for my time and expenses.
After a week or so I got a letter back saying the debt had been written off.
these big company's annoy me, they think they can intimedate you. My advice is refuse to pay them, and tell them you will be happy to go to court.
