Unison Full Time Representative

Hi All,

Not entirely sure whether this should be here or in jobs but anyway.

I am a member of Unison and would like a representative to attend a disciplinary hearing with me. There is a part time representative (more than one) where I work but I don't feel entirely confident with his abilities (although he's a very nice man). I was told last night that there are full time representatives for areas.

As a member of Unison, can I just ask that I be represented by the full time representative do you know?

Hi China.
Yes, you can have whichever representative you like with you. (I used to be in Unison and had this dilemma once. My rep at work was lovely but ineffectual).
To avoid upsetting your part time reps you could always say that you want to deal with a rep who doesn't know you as you feel too close to the ones at work.

You can ask for the rep of your choice but there may not anyone else available. This is a very busy time for Unison reps as the AGMs are around now.

Thank you everyone. I'll call the local rep tomorrow and see if I can get the full time one.

Vic - Yes, I'm in trouble. Lots of it. I was happy to take the blame for a bit but having read through all the documentation my manager has submitted I'm quite obviously being made a scape goat. So yeah, big trouble.... Excellent stuff.

ND - Thanks love but the place I work for, management always hold the cards. I've already resigned anyway so hopefully outcome won't be too bad!
