Recouping Charges
I was dealing with a company who provided long distance learning and was paying monthly via direct debit. My husband and I changed banks and advised the company of our new details and cancelled the direct debit with the company. I double checked with the company that they had the new details and they confirmed this direct with me. On two separate occasions the company in question tried to take out funds which resulted in a total of 60 worth of charges. I complained to the company and they reqested proof that this had happened. I sent them originals of the bank statement and also the letters from the bank advising me of the charge. The company refused to give me back the charges, so i refused to continue paying for the course. Cut a long story short, they got Debt collectors on to me and so i duely paid the required sum and once i had, i demanded that all the remaining course materials be sent to me and also the outstanding bank charges. The company said that they would release the materials when it suited them and who was i to demand this and also that they were disputing the charges. What can i do??

Despite my changin the details and confirming this with the company - the company still tried to request the funds despite having new bank details!! Thats my argument. I provided them with all the evidence.
