If there was no will finding out who received the estate can be very difficult - you probably need a genealogy site to try and trace relatives if they are unknown to you, and work it out using the intestacy rules. If there were no relatives the estate went to the Crown
Getting a copy of the probate grant (ie Letters of Administration) is simple enough - that will give the value of the estate, and may give some clues if it tells you who took them out. Start here:
