What your ex is doing is both irresponsible and unacceptable. If you report it to the police your son is unlikely to be prosecuted but your ex could be. Only you can know what to do for the best.
Personally I would report it to the police, maybe anonymously. What your ex is doing is dealing and is illegal. You may have problems if your son finds out that it was you who reported it though. Also your son may end up going to some dodgy street dealer to get his weed if his supply from his dad is stopped.Only you can know which you would prefer.
First of all what are you doing looking at your 16 year olds phone (do you not trust him???)
Second Call the police and ask them to be outside the time he rolls up and deny knowing anything about it !!!!

i looked at his phone because i found some weed in his pocket when i was doing the washing! he has been i trouble before and i have been keeping my eyes on what he is upto
i have called the police and am waiting for them to turn up
What the hell are you doing you mental person. What are you getting the police involved in this trivial matter for. I hope for your sake they don't show up. Just talk to the man and tell him to stop first. Who calls the police on their family. Are you joking?
styley........."talk to the man and tell him to stop first" I think you must be labouring under the illusion that people automatically do what they are told!
If shelly wishes to report it(and she already has) then that is her decision. It his her son afterall. The police obviously don't think of it as trivial if they are doing something about it as shelly said in her last message.
hmm, mr bednobs called the police on his brother over some weed once, and 20 years later it still affects their relationship.neither of them trust the other, in fact they rarle have spken since then.. be careful
why demonise the mother the father needs putting away for encouraging his 16 year old ,who incidentally is not old enough to buy cigarettes, to smoke cannibis. The father could be charged with supplying which carries a custodial sentence. there is nothing clever or sophisticated about smoking weed, it is in many cases a gateway drug that can lead to a lifetime (usually short) of drug addiction. Well done shelly if only more parents were as sensible as you

thanks annlinda
just an update the police called round and thankfully gave my son a good talking too i'm hoping that because i have delt with this matter through the police my son will now think twice about touching drugs(i only want the best for him and drugs are a road to nowhere)
i guess it's in there hands now to deal with his dad
now hes gonna get it from elsewhere, perhaps someone who doesnt give a fig about him. right or wrong, it was probly safer having his dad deliver a bit rather than hanging out at a drug den maybe getting peer pressured into worse stuff.
I'm flabbergasted at some of the replies!

shelly did absolutely correct in what she did, my only disappointment is the police don't seem to be taking this any further, ie arresting the father.
