Can someone change their plea after being sentenced?

If someone pleads guilty and is then sentenced, say a community order. Are they then allowed to change their plea to not-guilty. I am thinking of a situation where someone is advised by their solicitor to plead guilty, but then after sentencing, claim they are not guilty but were advised by their solicitor to say so?

What would they course of action be in this situation?

You can't have it both ways. Either have the guts to confess to the crime, or take the sentence when you get found guilty.
I would say tough luck and let this be a lesson to you a) not to break the law b) not to lie when you get caught and c) not to be a whining little toerag when you get found guilty.
