getting screwed by my bank

i started banking at us bank a couple years ago and wasnt aware of some fine print charges from using my card at another atm. i overdrew my account 300 bucks and when i found out i deposited $1500 the next day. the teller said everything that came back through would be covered and everything else i write would be covered and explained the charges. instead they froze my account for two weeks which caused more things to bounce which in turn caused me to go negative again and said i had to pay. i said forget it they need to correct their mistake and fix the account if not i was closing it. said i wanted to close and that was it. now 2 years later they called and said they are suing me for $1000. because of interest because the account was never closed and kept incurring charges but its them after the money not a vendor. what can i do?? they said they are gunna take all the money from my other accounts and theres nothing i can do even if i get a lawyer now.
