Is there a specific time period that you should recieve a speeding ticket after the event? I heard that if you don't receive it within 2-3 weeks that you can not accept it
Thanks

dont believe everything you hear down the pub.
A notice of intended prosecution (NIP) must be served within 14 days of the offence otherwise the offence cannot proceed at court. If the details of the driver are not known then it is sent to the registered keeper. So long as the registered keeper is sent it within the time limit the notice is valid.

NIPs can also be issued verbally to the driver at the time of the offence or alternatively you could receive a court summons through the post for the alleged offence within the 14 days.

Thanks for your answers and the weblink Kempie.
even if you move house ,,,, you are still responsible regarding any - n i p , summons ,,,,, this a bit of misconception,........ the 2it must be issued within 2-3 weeks ..........
Good answer from Kempie I would only expand upon same by saying that in Scotland the police just need to establish that they sent the notice within the 14 days. They do not need to prove recorded delivery or that the registered keeper received it just that they sent it!
Proof of same can come from a log of letters sent, an officer claiming he sent it or a computer record of same.
