3 people charged with conspiracy to supply class A drug. All circumstantial evidence with exception of one of defendents fingerprint being on a carrier bag which held another plastic package which contained the drugs. Drugs found in an open shed in one of the other defendents home. Until day of trial, all 3 were pleading not guilty, however, an hour b4 trial, police brought forward a damming statement. Legal team suggested one defendent plead guilty, police refused unless they got one other to plead guilty. Both pleaded guilty and the third person let go. Since pleading, it has been discovered that the damming statement was made by young girl who was being threatened by police with jail unless she cooperated with them. Surely this is wrong and innocent people will go to jail because of it. Can a plea be changed before sentence which is due in two weeks.

Liz I am slightly confused ?.

Ok the legal team suggested the person who's print was found pleaded guilty yes ?.

The Police have linked 3 people together, through intelligence or whatever, but you are saying that apart from a print the Police have no more evidence on the other 2 ?.

What did the Police refuse ?.

This is where it all goes Pete Tong, because if you were at Crown, in front of a jury, then I assume that the statement from this last minute witness would have been read out, then your legal team would have called her as a witness, and then cross examined her as to it's content.

Where the hell has your legal team been in all this ?...

The plea of guity has been entered, and I assume the defendents now await pre-sentance reports and are out on bail....

It seems to me that the print caught one bang to rights, however if all three were mates, I would expect the one whose print was found, if it is the truth, to say the other 2 were not involved at all in his statement.

AB is full of people who didn't do it, as is our Prison's.

Sometimes you just have to take it on the chin and be a man.

why would anyone plead guilty to something they didnt do?
I love this..... "All circumstantial evidence with exception of one of defendents fingerprint "
