I bought from argos yesterday a 10 socket tower extension. The extension lead I have now you can switch off the plugs individual and leave the ones such as video still on.This tower has no individual switch off and no way could you see that till I opened it .The question is can I take it back as to open it I had to cut the packet to get into it.I know I could just pull out the sockets not required but the whole idea was to be able just to swich off the ones not in use. thanks.
I think unless it's an item that is restriced from their 14 day money back guarantee then you should be ok taking it back.
BTW when buying from places such as Argos where you can't see exactly what you are getting it's worthwhile asking if the item can be opened first before leaving the shop to check it meets your requirements.
Started doing this some years ago when Argos sold everthing in plain brown boxes with just the item number on the side. Nearly all of the time the staff are happy to let you do this.
If it doesn't state there are individual switches, and you weren't told by Argos that there were, then in law you have no right to a refund.
However, it's always worth a try. Tell them it is not fit for the purpose you bought it.
Thanks both for replies .No it did not state there was individual switches .I know they will take it back no problem but it is the fact that it was one of these packets that had to be cut all round to get it out .I still have the packaging so will give it a try tomorrow. Thanks
