School Appeals Procedure

A friend of mine has been threatened with being banned from her son's school premises - she has been accused of being a bullying towards a member of school office staff on one occasion. She says she did not swear or use threatening behaviour. It appears the Headteacher has not carried out an investigation but taken the side of the school employee. She wrote my friend a letter, with a copy to the local borough solicitor. What can she do about this?

The school has a duty to protect its employees from abusive behaviour - intimidation and bullying does not have to include swearing or threats.

Your friend could write to the head and ask for an appointment to discuss the matter in an attempt to resolve it.

Presumably though since you say 'threatened with being banned' there actually won't be any consequences provided there is no repeat of the confrontation.
