I ordered an item over the internet, signed the acceptance form and posted it, then changed my mind the following day, and emailed the salesman asking him to ignore the acceptance form. I know my email arrived (and was probably read) before the acceptance form but they have neither destroyed it nor returned it to me and kept my deposit. This is technically a made to measure item but could not possibly have been started in the time frame. Does the 7 day cooling off period still apply?

The point is rather that I told them to ignore my acceptance.

In general contract law, a written acceptance becomes binding when you put it in the post box.

Whether that applies here I wouldn't like to say.
