At one time it was illegal to get out of your car and leave the engine running even for a few seconds. I think this law was changed to cover things like posting a letter in a roadside box etc. Can anyone settle an argument between friends, no incident is involved ? Thanks

Commonly known as 'quitting'.

And very glad I am too as it stops my neighbour leaving his car ticking over on his drive directly under my windows.
How can this law possibly apply to your neighbours car on his drive?
