i am livin in a rented housing association property and have been waiting for a boiler to be fitted for a week.i have no heating or hot water and have 2 children under 3. how long is it legal to leave me like this ?

you have the right to instruct an independent repairer to carry out repairs, you can then send the bill to your landlord. However, I would advise you to inform them of your intent before you do it, this may hurry them up.
