SKY TV wont cancel my subscription

Approx. 3 years ago my ex partner got Sky tv installed in our house, in his name and from his bank account. We split up 2 years ago and Sky have been taking the money from my account for this amount of time. I have tried to cancel the account and they said that it has to be done by the account holder, although I have explained I haven't seen him for 2 years they are still charging me and I dont even use the service anymore as I have Virgin Tv. Any ideas how I can get out of it?

Can you just not cancel the direct debit -at least they can't take anymore money. And if you're not using their service surely nothing can be claimed against you.

They said if I do that they would take legal action against m,y ex and hes already a big enough idiot I dont want to give him any reason to come near me again :-(

cancel the dd and as its in his name, it will be him that they will chase, return all post as /not know at this address'

so cancel the payments via the bank then phone sky and inform them you have terminated your account, there should be no need for legal action

No I have an injunction against him

Have u returned the Sky card.....do so, by registered post. Confirm cancellation & threaten court action (in writing) if they continue to remove funds from your account.

Well in that case just cancel the DD,and let sky deal with it. They cannot take legal action if noone is using their service. Put it in writing to them so everything is above board.

my thoughts exatly gina - you must have agreed for t hem to take the money from yur account - after all if you could just put bills in other peoples names i could put all mine in yours! Anyway, just get a male friend to fone up and pretend to be him

I guess i'm missing the obvious, but as it is your account that is paying them aren't you the account holder?

A friend of mine in a similar situation (kicked hubby out) just told them straight that it wasn't wanted anymore and couldn't be paid for, and she had no problem.

Yes, the very obvious question has been asked twice now so I'll make it three. If your partner set it up in his name from HIS bank account how is it now coming off YOUR bank account? I presume you told them to do that?

I'd be surprised if Sky took any action against anyone if you tell them to discontinue the service and stop the direct debit.
