and as he's probably involved in the building trade he will know that there is often a system of discounts which are different to each trader.
BUT...
If they are being discriminatory, or are selling above the recommended price, or at a different price to what was displayed, then you may have a case.
If it's a major purchase then check with CAB or similar, if it's something small, I would forget it.

doesnt work like that here Ethel prices must be displayed including any discounts . The over 60's dont get discount unless via a voucher from social welfare etc. Students get a discount in some stores but they have a sign in the window. There is certain days its cheaper for over 60 say in salons but that must be specified
