I'd hope they have the right to search pupils for anything unsuitable to have in a school from guns or knives to porn.

no most people already know they are going to search pupils phones. But are they by law aloud to demand pupils phones? because if we don't we get 6 hour detention.

just dont take your phone in then! or tell them you dont have one. By the way, It's ALLOWED not ALOUD. ALOUD means "out loud", which is why you got those "funny" answers. Anyway, ask to see the schools policy

When you are at school, the school is "in loco parentis" meaning they act as your parents would do.

Sorry, but they have that right. It's good that you have the sense to ask such questions, but I think you'll find that schools can give you bigger problems than that! Just go along with it. And try to get used to the idea that whether you're in school or in work you haven't got all the freedoms to do as you would outside. Takes a while to get used to, but that's part of the deal !
