We purchaced a DS at christmas and it has developed a fault with the sound after only 5/6 months,am i covered by the warranty or is there a get out of it clause..?

Usually 12 months retailer's guarantee. I usually 'argue the toss' with the retailer if over the 12 months to 60 months from date purchased. It depends on the type of goods purchased. It should be fit for the purpose for the length of time it should provide service on its use without abuse. The DS you bought must be brand new from a genuine retail outlet.

If your purchase was brand new from a Retail Outlet you have your rights under the Sale of Good Act 1979.

If the fault is of no fault of abuse usage and when item was purchased brand new, you usually have a 12 month Retailer's guarantee. If you are like me I would argue the toss on the items fitness for its purpose for up to 60 months and it depends on the type of goods
