retaliation?

I was arrested at the weekend and bailed for reacting to someone who threw a glass and me, it hit me. i then went over to confront the bloke who did it. I admit i was angry and the confrontation got agressive, he then pushed me and i head butted him. I was arrested and the other bloke is pressing charges . I know that he had to go to hospital for stiches. I have a cut on my head where the glass hit me. I put in a complaint wit the police at the custody desk as i was being checked in. My solisitor and i were both told that the man would be arrested for questioning when he comes out of hospital but never was! I have given a statement against the man. What i want to know is what punishment am i likley to recieve and what will i be likely to be charged with?? Many thanks
