Is it legal to put a static caravan (4 berth) on a drive and live in it? Being made homeless in two months time from private rented and am thinking of putting a caravan on my mother's drive and sleeping in there as no room in her home.

Her home is housing association. The drive is for her use only, not shared.

you may get reported to housing association and they may ask if your mother has permission to have a caravan on the drive! and a static caravan is quite big.

sorry
There's more to it than that.
One needs planning consent to do this (for more than one month). Planning consent will not be given - otherwise everyone would be at it.
some areas ban ALL caravans from drives, unless there are extreme circumsatnces as in the floods last year, as builders mate says everone would be doing it if it was that easy, I would stick 2 on mine and earn some cash ...
as stated, you woud need planning permission, which would more than likely be refused.

you may be better off looking to rent a house, possibly (depending on circumsances) from the hosing assotiation.
The legal position is complex but planning permission would almost certainly be required. For a far more detailed answer, please see my post here:

Chris
In the floods last year, householders were able to do it because it was regarded as a temporary residence as they had to move out of their houses. The same as also true if one redevelops a property - one can almost always get temporary permission to site a static caravan onsite whilst the redevelopment occurs.
