Right then, some of you may have read a previous post I put on here concerning my partner, who was told he had carpal tunnel which then turned into cervical myelopathy then turned into peripheral neuropathy, he has been admitted to hospital 1 twice and had many various tests. After 7 months he was admitted to hospital 2 because our GP rang, he'd reviewed his blood results and suspected a DVT, this being due to his immobility due to the neuropathy. Whilst at hospital 2 being treated for DVT, a sister (who we owe so much to) said that she thought there was something more going on than just a DVT, so she asked a doctor to see him, within less than a minute of looking at his prior blood results, taken by the hospital 1, where he had been admitted for the neuropathy, he had diagnosed him with pernicious anaemia, which was apparently what was causing the neuropathy! They started vitamin B12 shots and he feels like he's been brought back from the brink!
I am going to write to the Chief Exec of hospital 1 to complain that the consultant neuologist had clearly ignored the test results. He sent us an outpatients appointment for the 17th August, at which time I assume he might have told us about the anaemia and decided to do something about it! The doctor at hospital 2 was astounded that we were not told as the treatment is so simple, my partner was so ill until he had the shots. What I would really like to know is, could there be some financial recompense for us from the PCT as my partner has not been able to work for three months and he only gets SSP,for the last three months we have only had 300 a month SSP instead of his 1200 wages. I got made redundant last September so we are struggling. We had mentioned to the neurologist on more than one occasion that we could not afford for him to be off work but we were totally ignored. The good news is he is on the mend but we are still out of pocket over their incompentence. Any advice really would be helpful. THANK YOU

medical negligence?

I suggest you check your home insurance to see if you have legal cover.
Medical negligence?

If my sister could not get anywhere with a compensation claim when her husband was misdiagnosed with kidney stones when in fact it was cancer and he subsquently died as a direct result of that **** up, then what real hope do you have just to claim back a few mnths of lost wages?

Oh Pink, I am so sorry for your family loss, it makes our case sound pathetic doesn't it. Thanks for your answer though.
Thank you
I'm sorry, I sound harsh in my reply - What I wanted to get across too you is it probably isn't going to get you anywhere except stuck in a rut of going all out to get recompense.
I know you are getting some debt building up, but you will be able to pay that off once he goes back to work or maybe you will be lucky enough to find another job
I just feel that to get yourselves bogged down in what could be years of going to and fro, would be pointless and expensive for you
Good luck
