Is it a crime to leave rented property owing rent?

If the landlord has changed locks with your property inside and you break in to recover same....is that a crime?

What could be the offence?

a) Landlord can take you to Court for any unpaid rent, bills, expenses etc.

b) It would depend on the circumstances of the landlord changing the locks. Had you vacated the property? Been evicted?

Not evicted. Tenants vacated leaving their property in flat.

Now they've found another flat, have returned & taken some furniture and left place in disarray. Windows broken etc.
Burglary.

What could happen to them if the police were involved?
