You need to get some legal advice and get it sorted out rationally. Particularly if you are both interested on providing a stable home for your children. These may be a good starting point (both free and confidential)

nobody legally can force you to seperate. However SS can ask a parent to put naother parent out of the family home for a period if theire are child protection concerns. If this doesnt occur and concerns are high the children may be removed. Best to ask partner to move out for a while and seek help for his behaviour. Also family therapy. Then you have more of a chance of returning to being a family unit again
are you the one who recently posted something about changing your statement when your partner assaulted you ?????? It must be serious if social services are involved as they only do that when someone in the family is ''at risk''.
It probably best that your partner voluntarily moves out until he seeks professional help for his anger issues, more than likely this will be ordered by the courts as well as community service if this is his first offence, otherwise SS can legally remove your children. They obviously are taking this very seriously, Has your partner got a history of violence?
