benefit overpayment, and appeals

I have recently been told that I must repay some benefit overpayments. However I immediately lodged an appeal and heard back that my case would go before a tribunal. The DWP are still making deductions ahead of the hearing. Is this legal considering that I appealled against their decision within the 28days allowed?

yes it is. get a good representative for the appeal. My OH had dealings with DWP and boy, can they get nasty. In fact, get a REALLY GOOD representative for the appeal. good luck

If the appeal is successful you will get the money back that they are now deducting.

Aw being on benefits can be a nightmare, its so annoying they give you a sh1tty amount of money to begin with, then weeks, months, years later they tell you they have overpaid you and want the money back. Why can't they just calculate it right in the first place.
