Illegal Search by Security Staff at a Cricket game
i was ejected from a 20/20 cricket game and while been held in a painful wrist lock, security went through my pockets to try to retrieve my ticket.
I believe this to be an illegal search as the only right they have to search me is when I enter the ground and if I wont give my address...
3. Entry to the ground is only permitted to spectators who agree to be searched if requested by a steward or person designated by the Ground Authority.
24. Any person prosecuted or evicted may be asked to supply to KOL his or her name and address and KOL shall be entitled to take any steps which they consider necessary, including search of the evicted person, in order to substantiate the name and address of the person concerned.
What do i do and where do I go ?
Regards

Go to the local police and file a complaint of assault by the security guard/KOL. Be persistent and try to get them to investigate it. If you want justice, the police is where the trail starts. If you just want money, the police are the first step anyway- no one will take you seriously if you don't report to the police. And did you go to the doctor for your wrist???
A beer snake ( stacked empty cups) came my way at the 20/20 at the oval and I passed it on like dozens of others. I got picked out, maybe to make an example of. Didnt want to leave as this seemed ridiculous. They came back with the police which I requested. Anyway I enjoyed my moment of fame as the crowd were on my side chanting "let him stay" etc... Anyway as I was leaving after counting 11 staff and 3 police officers to remove me and taking the crowds applause one steward put into a thumb lock and as I tried to pull my hand out... needless to say they leapt on me and dragged me out. with the police... over two months now and need physio.
When I know you can get injured fingers playing cricket but not watching :O(.
Anyway I have put a complaint into the police. Usual doing anything to get me drop my complaint which is my conscious as I know its a difficult job etc while you can see the security firm and going to fob me off after their initial letter.

Have been doctor as had to go to the hospital next day to get x-rays, luckily no break but just strained
No chance to give back the ticket as they went through my pockets while holding me in thumb/wrist locks.
Its amazing how the police have to follow search procedures but security firms dont.
Sometimes I think Is should just forget about it and other days I feel what happened was bang out of order. So not sure what I want, but definitely want to be totally exonerated.

It dosen't say that searching is only on entry, the way i read it, by entering you have agreed to be searched at any time while you are there therefore no illegal search.
Why did they have to restrain you? if because you resisted, or were being aresey/****** i can't really see why you are complaining.
When they asked you to leave, if you had simply said yes ok then and left, they wuld not have haad to put you in any sort of arm lock, would they?

I know when everybody complains they pretend they were totally faultless and the most heinous crime was committed on them... but me getting thrown out for passing on a beer snake was like ejecting one person for participating in a mexican wave with thousands of others
I was then searched on the street. The problem is how can there be legislation for the police searching you and nothing apparently for security staff with no real training.
Apparently a lot of these stewards are doorman and it showed on the day. It was a cricket game not a nightclub. They were way over the top. If I hadnt been injured I would have took it on the chin and moved on. I wouldnt have been happy, my pride would have damaged, but thats about it.
Imagine you were there and stood up for a mexican wave (which in theory is against ground rules) and they throw you out. No warning nothing? Would you have just left ?

I did. I initially put a complaint against the police officer as I believed he twisted by wrist, but I have since seen cctv footage and he was unaware that a steward put me in an wrist lock for no reason... so going to go after the stewards. Think I should have them deffientley for an illegal search since it was outside the stadium, but how do i go about it efficently ?
to make things more interesting I was with two friends who are police officers...
