Refund of car insurance

My friend has recently given up his car and drivng completely so he wrote to his insurance company Saga and asked for a refund of his unexpired part of his insurance. So far they haven't even acknowledged his letters . Is he entitled to a refund ?

It depends. The contract is for a year but many/most insurers will offer partial refunds, although they are not normally prorata and there may be a cancellation/policy change charge which may mean she gets little or nothing.
How long remained on the policy?

Usually no refunds are due after 7 months - so he should get a small amount back
Although i don't understand how 7months=12 - but that's the crazy world of car insurance
