I run a mobile disco and have rececently been told that i need a music license, can anybody tell me if this correct.

yes, you need a PPL license (and the venue should have a PRS license)

Presuming, of course, that you're playing other people's copyrighted songs and not either your own tracks/music where the copyright has lapsed.
Hi discobobby - Head for the Licensing Regulation Division of your local authority. Since the unitary authorities came into being, recently, they handle everything from taxis to night clubs - birthdays to chicken farms.
On the rare ocasion it aint them, they'll point you in the right direction.
