Is it legal to fly the george cross flag outside your house during the world cup . I have been told that I could be prosecuted should I do so . That does not seem right
I've got a whole row of bunting across the back of the house, my son has a large flag out of his bedroom window at the front, I've a car flag and a shiled on the bonnet, looks like I'm goin darrrnnnnn lol
my neighbour next door but one has a full height flag pole and flies the england flag 365 days a tear but he's added another 15 smaller flags around his back garden just to be sure lol
Bikers have GeorgeX on my chimney stack & bunting around house; UJ on flagpole outside & nodding bulldog clad with GX in Jag with stickers on Reg plates. Football CD in car to roar up & down to my shops. Chav - that's me :)
To be illegal there would have to have been a law passed banning English people from flying their flag, this would suggest England has become a nazzi state and as yet I don't think we have.
The relevant legislation is the Town and Country Planning (Control of Advertisements) Regulations 2007.
You may display a country's national flag, commonwealth/EU/UN flag, the flag of an English Country or a Saint's flag (but you can only display the flag of the Saint for the country you are in) without advertisement consent provided that there is nothing but the flag on the flagstaff and nothing has been added to the flag.
It's an urban myth promoted by racist types who claim that ethnic minorities have complained about the flags and have got the law/politicians on their side. It's all nonsense of course but it sells newspapers and provides conversation in pubs and classrooms
