my car was hit on the early hours of march 27th this year, despite it being caught on camera the police messed things up forgot about the evidence etc. he was given 28 days to hand his details in which was 3 weeks ago today, after 12 phone calls to the police he didnt hand in any documents, is this breaking the law as they are now giving him till the 14th june and im stuck with £1452.00 damage to my car. the police have not even attempted to approach him yet !

F they've not attempted to approach him how have they forgotten about the evidence?
Do you know his reg details? I'm sure your insurance can track his insurer on the MIB database. Have you contacted your insurer?
ask the police for his details and pass them to your insurers.

The insurers can find the driver via the reg details.

At least that way you can start to get your car repaired and paid for.
