sorry sent that b4 wrote th question. i found money at a cashline today which i have handed to th police however i believe i can claim this myself if th owner does not come forward after a certain amount of time. im sure someone will claim it but if they dont will the police just send it to me automatically or would i need to go in to the station to ask about it?

I wouldnt go to the police station and ask at all. Wasnt your money so if no-one claims it and you are entitled to it then they will come to you. Forget about it, you may just get a surprise

A friend of mine went to a cash point on saturday and found £30 sticking out,now thats being lucky.

The normal time frame is six weeks I believe. so pop in and see them at about that time and ask.

To be honest with you unless it was a significant amount of cash I probably wouldn't hand it in to start with (assuming it was just cash on it's own and not in a wallet or purse)

depends how quick they got there square. Chuck I found about 300 quid on floor once, luckily I found the owner. If you are entitled to the money the police usually take down your address etc to call you up.
