I don't know if this is the right section but would really appreciate any information any one can give.
I sent 2 cards one yo my grandson and one to his brother's girlfriend. Post codes TS28 & TS26.
One card contained £5 & the other £20. I know that I shouldn't send money in a card but I have done it for years without any problem. As the postcodes are so close together - I know they wont be delivered by the same postman but they are probably dealt with in the same sorting office. can I determine which office would deal with the mail and contact them? They may already have a 'situation' there and be glad of any feedback What do you think?

Wingate Delivery Office
Front St E,
Wingate,
County Durham
TS28 5AG
whereas the card for TS26 would probably have been routed via
Hartlepool Delivery Office
Clark St,
Hartlepool,
Cleveland
TS24 7AA
The Royal Mail website seems more designed for claiming compensation than for actually forwarding information to local managers, but you might want to take a look at it:

You might find it easier to write to the addresses above.

I had a problem with post not arriving when it was sent from a certain area of the country. I wrote to the post office because, like you, I thought there might be a problem. I got a reply with the usual rubbish about there being nothing wrong with the system. I would tell them if I was you, but I wouldn`t hold out a lot of hope about getting much of a result. I watched a programme a couple of years ago (might have been Despatches) about the dodgy dealings that go on in sorting offices. Some of the people who work there are very practiced at deciphering what is in an envelope just by the feel of it. Good luck

In the rare event I send cash I always send it recorded delivery these days, so at least someone signs for it, or if it goes missing you can claim compensation. Unfortunately people recognise cards and if they are for youngsters, they can often guess where money might be included. A few bad eggs spoil it for the rest, but it would be very hard to prove.

My grandsons have received many cards containing cash over the last few years without a problem, however, on my eldest ones last birthday a card containing £20 failed to appear! teh Post Office didn't want to know! I enquired, and then complained! nothing! they know which sorting offices the card went through, but no, they weren't interested, my family and I have learned a lesson though! no more cash in cards from now on!...................
I have a missing parcel right now
Online delivery says it was collected by the 'customer' - it wasn't as I still have the card and if you consider that 2 different girls behind the counter offered me a wrong parcel twice on different days, then it's no wonder this countries postal service is going top the dogs
I will be making a complaint and a claim

One of the cards - the one with £20 in finally turned up 2 weeks late!
Thank you all for your input
I can't see how the post office will survive because of their attitude; rhe strikes; the fact that a lot of big companies are going with TNT and our post arrives at any time throughout the day - no consistency
