I recently read in a newspaper [ cant remember which one] that if you are a foreign national and your application to stay has been turned down, if you then withdraw your appeal and return home voluntary the govt will give you £3,000 to leave. True or untrue ?

True. It cheaper than allowing them to stay while they appeal and better than them going underground. Its was a very successful scheme when i last saw figures a year or so back.

There are actually two possible sources of funding to try to persuade certain people to return home. In some cases funding is provided directly by the British Government. That, for example, applies to people who've been released from prison:

However, in most cases, funding is more likely to be provided by the International Organisation for Migration, which is a well-respected intergovernmental organisation, working throughout the world:
