domestic violence sentance

hi, my ex has smacked me around 5 times since dec09-aug10 i called the police in may and he was done for battery and cautioned as i would not take him to court. Then on the 10th august he went for me again throwing me against the fridge slamming me into breakfast bar scuffle on floor had his hands round my throat etc but no serious injuries just 1cm cut on my hand small grase on sholder and a lump on my head (pathetic in comparrison to dec incident) but what could he be looking at getting? punishment wise i mean, im not going to back down as he has pushed me to far. Plus the cps will just carry on without me

I dont think you should even worry yourself with what he will get.. you need to save yourself - and get out while you still can - and keep him away from you. The man is a dangerous bully and could cause you some serious harm.

Find the strength to stand up to him and see the court case through!! You could be saving someone else from the same fate!

stand up to him now Sarah and co-operate with the police, move if you can if he gets a custodial sentence. Whatever you do dont have him back remember the old saying "leopards never change their spots !" he may promise to change but believe me he wont.Think how much better you can do for yourself without someone like him out of your life.

Please don't take this the wrong way, but I'd love to find out your situation with this guy in a year's time, i.e. whether or not he's still in your life. Hopefully not.

We have a 1 year old. But I have already got a solicitor to inform him that he can not see her on his own till he has undergone anger management and has help with his drinking. Just want to know what hes looking at getting? I don't live with him and haven't spoke to him since the 10th.

I'm not, i've got his number but haven't used it. Even tho I know that I can contact him its just not the other way round. But i've been told community service and a fine. But his aunt said his solicitor has told him a jail sentance, which seems extreme considering the injuries. He's already pleaded guilty so cant drop charges anyway

Dont go back hun or even have any contact with him. Take it from me it wont stop and could get worse if he not punished now. I let my partner abuse me for 8 years doing nothing about it until february this year he went to far and hurt my 8yr old daughter, he has been her dad for 7yrs and he is now on abh charge on her and has finally yesterday pleaded guilty so is to be sentenced next month so hun keep you and your baby safe and stay away make sure he gets punished now xx Take Care xx

my ex husband got community ervice and probabtion for battering me, he was charged with ABH which is pathetic concidering the harm he caused me but hey there you go, thats the justice system for you! Is this his first offence? if so he will prob get a slap on the wrist and walk away to do it again and again. The best thing you can do is cut him out of your life completely and not concern yourself with what he'll get. You and your child are all that matters. Dont take this the wrong way, but are you thinking of having him back if he ''gets help''?because from what your saying in your posts it sounds like communication is still very much open and that you only want to teach him a lesson. I dont mean to offend, ive been in your situation thats all so i know how it all feels and goes

Sweet - Keep well away from this man.. i was in a 10 year DV relationship and trust me they never ever change no matter what they say. My ex was given not very good sentences to be honest.. compensation to court. myself (both not paid from 2007!) and community service.

Ive had to take out several court orders against him since as he wont leave us alone.
