I recently acquired my hygiene certificate and whilst doing my course the subject of cleanliness naturally came up. I was rather surprised to hear the tutor say what I have been saying for years, we are becoming "over clean" everything now has to be so clean that our bodies no longer build up the antibodies to deal with slight infections,
Ive worked out the field as a tree surgeon, Ive spent 13 years as a pest controller, I must have consumed vast amounts of these dodgy bacteria, I obviously need to be more careful in my present job in a care home. I am totally convinced that if we stopped pussy footing around with food we would all be better protected with our own defence mechanism. Incidentally, it is very rare I'm off work with any illness, i very rarely get colds or any other illness. My home and kitchen is clean but I'm sure you would find plenty of bacteria if you looked.
When im working in my garden or as today im putting a new roof on a shed, I wont wash my hands to eat, I will probably consume many millions of bacteria, will I suffer? No I wont.
Do you think a farmer washes his hands when he is out working in the field, no, he just swills them off in the cows trough!!!
