Popped into Asda today for a few bits and when I went to get some wafer-thin turkey the whole tray on display was out-of-date yesterday. Surely that's pretty poor, you'd think a big store like Asda would have better systems in place.

Thats a bit naughty. Stock control is vital for obvious reasons. Did you mention to the staff?
Not good sher!........our local one is very good, anything going out of date the next day is always in the 'Oops 'section...............get some really good bargains there!.
Was it the brest by date you noticed ?
where I used to live had a local cost cutter, it was a miracle to find any of the food in date!

Saw a manager re-stocking the milk (that doesn't seem right either) so I told him. Not sure what he did (he did roll his eyes though) as I had the three youngest with me.
sounds like he was a bit short staffed and stressed then Sher, still not an excuse though!........

Felt a bit sorry for him as he as working on the ciggie counter as we were leaving.
must have been very short of staff then!.............don't usually see the Manager doing these jobs!............credit to him then!..............
I once found a whole shelf of out of date milk for sale in Tesco.....
As long as they give me a 99% discount on all out of date food, then I will turn a blind eye to it.

That is very odd for a store to have food out of date; the computer usually tells them what is in date, and what is not.
I asked the Doc to go for a loaf the other day at the local store (privately owned ) being a man he just picked up the first loaf he passed it was out of date and was dry. He went back to store and complained but the woman behind the counter said it was up to him to check the date and that was that. We spend in excess of £50 a week in this shop (it's a village store and easier than driving miles to supermarkets) anyway we have now gone elsewhere, for the price of a loaf they have lost out custom.

Hi puss, could you get your shopping delivered? (but watch the sell-by/use-by dates).
