Applying for a home care job with a criminal record?
2 Answers
Hello, I received a police caution 10 years ago after getting into a fight in my youth. 7 years ago I had a one year drink drive ban, and was also fined at the same time for having no insurance. I would like to apply for a job as a carer but will these incidents mean that I am not considered suitable to work in this role?

Relatively minor offences, especially those committed when we are young, can easily be offset by a good, recent work history. Having no insurance whilst driving, although potentially serious, is more of a motoring offence than a criminal one. Out of all that you have mentioned, the part that would stand out to me, as a prospective employer, would be the drink-driving. My worry would be that you were an habitual user of alcohol. Should you be able to demonstrate that this was not the case, I would make any judgments based on your CV and experience.
