Well, as the wife of someone who has suffered from depression on and off for the last 8 years, I can tell you that if that's what he does indeed have, he deserves all the help and support he can get. I wish him well.

Depression is indeed a serious illness, and just because he's a filthy rich megastar doesn't make it any less serious. That said, this story coming out at the same time as the sexual assault and murder of a two year old girl is unfortunate timing, as the latter is always (quite rightly) going to have more of an impact on ordinary people.

Although I'm no fan of Robbie Williams, I hope he soon gets better, but not as much as I hope the scumbag in Leeds gets thrown in jail, and hopefully mutilated by other inmates while the warders turn a blind eye. Whoops, there go my liberal credentials.

gina32, cynical it may be but I bet it is not the first time a celebrity has used unfortunate circumstances to promote themselves or their 'product'. Just look at the ho-ha over Jade Goody recently, now she is on the front page of magazines telling or should that be selling her story about rehab. Robbie is now on the front page of the Mirror and the Sun, cynical maybe or Robbie Williams 'stage managed' publicity???

Ging32, we will have to agree to disagree on this one. I think it is completely possibly, IMHO it is not necessarily to do with whether he needs the money or not, and it is not necessarily his decision, but for sure, he does have advisors and PR people who will use every opportunity to manipulate a situation for their own financial gain, afterall they are in for a percentage cut of any dosh he makes.

When you have problems,you have problems.Ive suffered from depression for about the past 23 years.It was first diagnosed when i was 16 years old.Ever since then it has never failed to amaze me peoples attitude towards it,ranging from you must either be a complete fruit loop,or youre a complete attention seeker.I have been on fluoxitine off and on for the same amount of time,and only through changin doctors have now been offered a specific type of councelling...If robbie williams is sufferin from depression i can understand why he has checked himself into rehab,because the desperation you can feel to want to be "normal" is overwhelmin you ll try anything.Good luck Robbie x

I think you have all hijacked this thread with a discussion on depression. Which we are all aware of being a truly serious condition

I think puss was trying to say that when the going was good... Robby's high living was something he was proud of... the minute the going gets tough... he claims depression.

All you people championing the serious issue of depression should be angry with the Robster for his self infilcted state, which detracts from real newsd and the real issues of psychiactric illnesses!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree that a baby being murdered is horrific and a terminally ill person should have the right to euthenasia. I also feel for Robbie and anyone who suffer's with depression as it's one the most misunderstood illness's in the world. Robbie's main problem is his addiction to the ssri Seroxat,the defective AD. Trying to come off it is on a par to coming off heroine.Thousand's of patient's worldwide are strugging to get off Seroxat and going through hell. GSK have a lot to answer for. Saying that, I dont think all that coffee and red bull is helping Robbie. I like him and I dont think he's all that people make him out to be.

Its a case of what order the news comes in.
If the main piece is Robbie rather than the murdered child then I think thats a bit off really. Robbie is a sweety and I wish him well but the childs murder and finding the murderer is far more important.
As for Camilla I agree chaotica I really couldn't give two hoots about her. Unlike Robbie she is not in the least bit entertaining or likeable.
