Or if you are asking in terms of Cheryl Cole, Alex Curran et al, then it stands for "wives and girlfriends"

First heard it during the world cup when the players wives and girlfriends were out on the town so its wife or girlfiend of someone famous,doesnt have to be a footballer I dont think.
