I've heard rumours Chris Barrie (Rimmer) and Craig Charles (Lister) do not get on. I've even seen them at conventions sit apart. So, what's the absolute cast-iron truth behind this?

I am not a fan of Red Dwarf, but I did see a program about the making of it a few years ago.

It did confirm that the actors DID NOT get on.

I guess there are lots of TV programs and films made where the actors do not get on. Just because you make a TV program or film together does not mean to say you have to like each other.

I have to say Craig Charles is not a person I could like.

I remember reading a few years ago that he had some short stories published in a UK magazine, and years later it turns out that he had stolen them word for word from an American magazine.

And wasn't he thrown out of Eastenders from taking Cocaine.

So a thief and a drug taker. Maybe Chriss Barrie was right.
This is the first I've heard of this I must say. I love Red Dwarf.

I heard a similar thing about Bruce Willis and Cybil Shepherd.
vehelpfulguy - I think that it is unreasonable to decide you could not like a person you have never met based on information in the media (some of which you have misremembered anyway). It is no more reasonable to decide you dislike everyone who has taken drugs than to presume you will like every single person who hasn't. Nobody is perfect but most people are more complex than to be judged fairly just on a few headlines. They probably don't get on particularly but so what?
I have not based my decision on just these few newsworthy items.

I have seen him on TV a number of times, on Red Dwarf, on Robot Wars and on chat shows.

I think you can tell a lot about a person seeing them on a number of TV shows and I just know that if I met him I would not like him.
i seem to remember there being rumours of David Duchovny (Mulder) and Gillian Anderson (Scully) not getting on while filming The X-Files, but this is completly untrue.

There are always rumours of this kind with long running cult TV shows, but maybe they just saw each other too often?
Red Dwarf is really funny.
I'm not to interested in wether the casliked eachother or not.
It's the same with Carry On movies. I love them to but I have no interest in wether Shorty Windsor slept with Rough Diamond Syd, or how obsessed Kenny was with is sexuality.
I like the characters they played, the great shows and films they did.
The Red Dwarf team did a good job and made me laugh thats all that matters.
Interesting that people find it worthy of comment when actors don't "get on" with their work colleagues. Funnily enough I have, on occasions, worked with people who were not amongst my best buddies. Does that apply to anyone else here, or does it only happen to actors?
