Daddy was just here and I asked him if he saw this and he gave up after half an hour and I'd not seen MM for ages so thought I'd give it a go ... thought it nowhere near as good as it once was.
LOVED the dog though and told daddy all about him and that I thought he was the one from the advert.
Then daddy asked me who the killer was and whilst I was able to tell him I can't remember why.
Will watch next week just for the dog!
I wondered if they had a different writer? The "Trinian" type overacting girls were ridiculous. If you were at a private school there is no way you would be allowed to dress like that I' sure! Yes, the dog and Neil Dudgeon were the best actors, but even Sarg. Jones was like an amateur this week! I hope it bucks up!
I felt the same after half way through. He was much too laid back. But perhaps he may grow on us as he gets more nasty and annoying. I thought it was Jones that seemed a different character, more bossy and argumentative. Didnt like him at all
I was really hoping that they would promote Troy to replace twinkle-eyed Tom. Troy and Jones have been the best of the side-kicks. Does anyone know what happened to Scott? He disappeared without trace, nothing was said about his going and he was never mentioned again!
Last night was rubbish as the murderer was played by an actor who is always a wrong-un, also it was very slow.
I got the impression Neil was taking a laid back approach to the character - "finding his feet" and I think he will be progressively more to the fore.
I think it's a case of watch this space.
I agree though, big star = villain.
I didn't like the low life council estate, nor the London club scene. I thought both were more The Bill than Midsomer.
I didn't like all the locals being familiar with Jones as he had no rapport with them in previous series. I could see it was the character 'showing off' to his new boss but it seemed contrived.
I did like the new Barnaby's droll sense of humour, I loved the dog and I thought the end was excellent. It has given Jones an advantage over his boss and I think next week they will be getting on much better.
I lost 2 hours of my life last night, the dog, however, was great. The lead schoolgirl looked about 30 and the others ran about like headless chickens, the suicide victim managed to get out of his car and cover it with hay bales, which looked surprisingly fresh after years before he was discovered
I thought it was dreary and lacking John Nettles lighter, wry touch. Only hope the new Barnaby wife is a knock-out with character......otherwise the number 2 detective (forget his name) has his work cut out to sustain this programme. Maybe they really should add a minority person to add colour to what was a very drab episode.
