URGENT movie identification

PLEASE HELP my sister and I are trying to identify this film!

<LI>its a cartoon</LI>
<LI>we think it is from around the 90's</LI>
<LI>it's set in a forest which is being cut down</LI>
<LI>there is black sappy gunk that comes out of the trees and becomes a monster</LI>
<LI>the characters are tiny fairy-like people</LI>
<LI>at one point they find a walkman, and one jumps on the play button which makes it play a song (the only lyrics of which we can remember being 'naa na na na naa na na na naa...etc'</LI></UL>

Thanks for all your help!!! If anyone can help identify that song also, then would be a great help. It's from around the 80's (we think) and those lyrics above are kind of the chorus, repeated quite often. Like this: 'naaaaa na na na naaaaa na na na naaaa na na na naaa na na naaaa' - if you put more stress on the ones with more a's, then you might recognise it.
