Claire's exit to France was questioned by many characters, including herself, but was a course of action reluctantly pursued because the alternative for her was almost certainly prison; Xin and Graeme's sham marriage is certainly a reckless course of action by those two characters but one they entered into naively in the expectation it would not be such a complicated business and would help Xin - who was established as a good friend of TIna - stay in Britain.

Having said all of this, I do appreciate you taking the time to express your views and the sentiments of other users of The Answerbank. We are never complacent and always take the opinions of viewers - especially the concerned and informed sentiments such as those that you included in your letter - seriously and we'll bear all those comments in mind.

Once again, thank you for your comments and for your support. I hope that you will continue to enjoy Coronation Street in the future.

Yours sincerely

Kieran Roberts

ABers, See Corrie: Kieran Roberts (Part 1) first.
Well you tried Arti, and I think you got nothing back from Kieron Roberts in return. He has said nothing that we didn't know already, but has failed to actually grasp what we are all saying. He has just explained the story lines, which we knew all ready, what he hasn't explained is how ridiculous some of these story lines have been!

Well done anyway.

Thanks, Lotty. I was a tad disappointed. Reading between the lines, I think that he is a man who doesn't take criticism well. I may be wrong. I explained clearly in the letter that it wasn't just a case of some stories being ridiculous eg Dev getting into financial trouble is perfectly credible, but it was introduced in a hurried manner to facilitate an existing plot. I feel a bit better at venting my disappointment with the programme, though.
And getting more ridiculous by the episode, after last night's debacle!

*after venting*
dont watch it anymore cant stand tracey barlow and the john story has gone on too long
sorry, was following on from what LL was saying, and yes well done for writing to him in the first place.
Question Author
Nobody appears to have read the first part of his letter, which is still on Answerbank homepage.
I read it.
I see no explanation for the unrealistic proportion of gay characters living in one street
Question Author
Okey doke, bloom. I think it's going to get messy with two threads, so I'm going to wait until tomorrow to read any posts.
You actually got a reply, although not the one you were wanting to hear. I call that a result. I know that they keep profiles on all characters in order to avoid anachronisms, but occasionally they do slip up. In her early days in the Street Emily Bishop was strict Methodist chapel, but she seems somehow to have become staunch C of E.
There are 2 'original' gay characters, joeluke; Sean and Sophie........Sian and Marcus are the partners of these characters.

It's not as unrealistic as you would wish.....
Agreed JTH

Arti I read the first part and answered only on this part. x
I read both parts Arti (in the wrong order I confess).Neverthe less I understood what
Kieran was saying, although in quite a long letter he never said much did he?
I love Corrie and yes I have a few moans about it but Hey! its a soap & they've always been far fetched. (& I can go back as far as 'The Grove Family') How dull they would be if they went at the pace of a real street.

Jem

and thanks Arti for asking those that know on our behalf. ♥
So Dev isn't skint anymore, how did they explain that.
Carla has sudden gone off Peter.....
And what are the chances of going on holiday and meeting your local landlord's sister??
JTH

Todd and his boyfriend?
Ken Barlows grandson?

.......and the new landlady of the Rovers daughter is reportedly going to be a lesbian

http://primetime.unre...he-new-gay-character/

There'll be more gay characters than straight before long........and don't even get me started on the 'bloke in drag' character
Oh yeh forgot about him!! ha ha
Pity they can't bring Ena Sharples and Annie Walker back, they'd soon sharpen things up!
And don't forget Gails dad, he's gay too!
