Which team to support in University Challenge

My wife supports her old alma mater in University challenge. I dont see why, as she left that uni more than 30 years ago, she left that city more than 30 years ago, has no contacts with that uni/city, and the team consists of members who perhaps have been in that uni for only a year. I say why not support the underdog uni as at the end of the day they are just teams and the uni that they are in is of no consequence.

I think there is a natural tendency to support the establishment you attended when you were younger. Like you say, they are just teams.
