Don't usually watch this but just flicked on - who is the actor playing the teacher in the school cafe, mght be called Daniel Chalk in the programme?? I really recognise him, maybe from an advert?
Of course, the funny building society adverts. Thank you all, fountains of knowledge as usual.
Was hoping you might answer sherr - still think this series is enough to put anyone off teaching for life!!
Hi Prudie - I couldn't go back to it that's for sure! I used to work in a 'good' school and the stuff you heard about would make your hair curl (and I only heard snippets as I wasn't a 'pastoral' person). Hate to think what an inner-city school would be like. Whilst I find Waterloo Road a bit full-on it is like a condensed version of a whole school year (only a real school would have more staff).
I do remember you making a very funny remark on here along the lines of preferring wasps up your bottom to returning to teaching! I taught in a smallish secondary modern and I suppose stuff did go on but I don't remember there being such aggression and nastiness amongst pupils and certainly not the staff. Still I can see it's probably an addictive programme, don't know why I stopped watching it.
Thought this thread was dead. Fount is short for fountain.
I was a maths teacher anyway but glad you two feel better for pointing out what you perceive as en error!
