I've been enjoying (fictional) biographical films, e.g. Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Forrest Gump, Big Fish, just wondering if anybody knows any other films like these? thanks

I recommend 'As Good As It Gets' and 'About Schmidt' - both starring Jack Nicholson.
'Stand By Me' and 'When Every Day Was The Fourth Of July' (if you can find it) are also good 'growing up' films.
The Tin Drum
Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence, Ice Cold In Alex
Its a wonderful life.

The Tin Drum film covers the first 2 books of the trilogy about the life of Oskar Matzerath, who decides to stop growing at the age of 3, and follows him through the first 20 years or so of his life. The film won the Oscar for best foreign language film as well as the Palme d'Or at Cannes. If you don't mind foreign language films it is an excellent choice.
Slumdog Millionaire was brilliant; I watched it after all the hype and it was still good!
The Butterfly Effect might be a good one too; that follws him from childhood to adulthood which I am guessing is what you're after? There are lots of different endings to The Butterfly Effect though; first one I saw was a brilliant ending; second one not so much.
The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp, one of my all time favourite Powell and Pressburger films, starring Roger Livesey. Its A Matter of Life and Death by same people, starring David Niven. Stand By Me, with the late River Phoenix.
An Education with Carey Mulligan, which i have only just seen, very good film.
