Did anybody see the first of a series "Starting Out?" a programme and series following the life of 4 newly qualified doctors in hospital.
Two women and two men.
First young lady was attached to a GI unit and had to tell a patient that she had terminal cancer......the female doctor then left the room and burst into tears.
Second young lady on A&E giggled to her friends after doing a rectal examination.
First male doctor was about 20stones in weight.
Second male ....on a Respiratory Unit moaned about the writing up of case notes.
In my opinion if these are examples of the future doctors, then we are seeing a fall in professional stature.
Oh dont be mean they are all young and it is television
As for the doctor being overweight - I have had quite a few nurses coming to Mums and my late step fathers and they have all been hefty - and I say that as someone who is overweight myself
The last nurse that checked my weight on my BP check up was extremely overweight. Not a good thing in my opinion. She was there to give advice too if she thought you needed to lose weight.
I would not be very impressed on being lectured on my weight by someone who was a lot fatter than me.
P.S. I happened to have a hospital appointment yesterday and couldn't help but notice how many overweight nurses and receptionists, etc. there were around.
I've seen quite a few overweight nurses in my dealings with our local hospital, and I'm overweight myself, so I don't find it awfully conducive to rying to lose weight - but it doesn't seem to help by the nurses having to wear a uniform which appears to be 2 sizes too small.
i hate ill fitting uniforms, and fellow students have been told to get a bigger size pronto!!
i too seen this prog...and i personally thing that overweight doc should slim down..he was running to an arrest call....was practicaly arresting himself by the time he got there !!! :0/
