I read that, interesting article, if thats the one with Brian Sewell.
Its right as well.
I didn't complain about the storylines because they were about gay people, young or old, or about the storylines about cross dressing or transgender wotsitting, I just complain when they clumsily introduce the new storline, like this grandson of ken's who it was obvious weeks ago was a criminal
I think it was referring to the fact that over half of weatherfield are gay, transgender, or like Mark a cross dresser, and considering its a very small place, that has more crime than you would expect in London, the producer? who is gay, may have an agenda for getting ever more gay characters into the street.
Question Author
I do think it's ridiculous unrealistic it would be to have so many gay people living in one street. I'm finding Corrie difficult to watch at the mo because Michelle Collins is a terrible actress, absolutely awful!

I think you're right Em.
I meant ridiculous and unrealistic
I drop out drop in when watching it, and the storyline have gone off the rail, rather like the tram crash
Perhaps they should rename it 'queer street.' No offence meant. I do agree
the stories have been on the decline for some time now.I don't like cindy Beale
or whatever her name is either. They should bring back Hilda and Mavis.
The best programme was Queer as Folk, wish they had made some more
The gay residents of Coronation Street are Sean and Marcus and Sophie and Sian.

Hayley (whose storyline was dealt with some time ago) is a long-established character; Mark the cross-dresser will soon be gone; and Ken's grandson is a crook who just happens to be gay.....although there is precious little representation of that fact on-screen.
Queer as Folk was absolutely brilliant. Hilariously funny. One of my all time favs next to The Sopranos. Sorry going off topic. It's the V&T.
I have just complained about the ridiculous storylines - nothing else. And to be honest I haven't really taken any notice about whether the characters are gay or not.
Much the same as in real life I really don't have interest in people's sexual preferences. What is interesting perhaps is that how many people who watch Corrie even think of Hayley as having a sex change (unless it is mentioned).
Eileen's son Todd, and there have been others, its not the fact that there are gay characters, it was mentioned that perhaps the producer had an agenda in placing so many, as was said, in one small place.
That's the trouble when a soap starts putting out more weekly episodes, the turnover of story-lines increases, the speed with which they are resolved increases and the writers are condemned to repeat storylines or seek evermore unrealistic plots..
They could definitely get rid of some of the characters, Dev for one
I didn't know that Ken's grandson's character was gay either
It's why he and his dad (Ken's son) don't get on, dotty.....
I didnt know they didn't, actually, yes maybe I did, wasn't that ages ago though? He's a proper nasty piece of work if you ask me, someone on here posted a link to a spolier about it but any proper viewers spot em a mile off
I doubt very much that the effete Brian Sewell is a regular viewer of Corrie
So, one wonders, why he is bothering to write an article about it?
why wouldn't he watch, millions do.
